Chase away your winter blues with energetic music from Zimbabwe and Brazil to support The Food Source Foundation, a new Olympia nonprofit addressing food insecurity, Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 7pm at the Eagles Ballroom. Samba Olywa will start the show with Brazilian-style percussion and dance and will be followed by Mukana (moo/kah/nah) Marimba’s beautiful melodies and complex rhythms in the tradition of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. There will be seating and plenty of dancing space too!
The mission of The Food Source Foundation is to address food insecurity in Olympia and beyond (https://foodsourcefoundation.org/). This brand new nonprofit came out of the “Souper Sunday – free soup for everyone” Facebook group founded by Chris Hyde (https://www.facebook.com/groups/814268350188077). Chris has been providing free soup from his heart and hands to the community since September 2023.
