See a new play highlighting Black Americans’ often-overlooked contributions during World War II. The Washington State History Museum partner with theatre company Living Voices on Thursday, March 20, 2025 at 5:30pm for the free play Fly for Freedom: Home Front / War Front, celebrating these unsung heroes of World War II. The event is free as part of Tacoma’s “Third Thursdays” program. Admission to the museum will be free on March 20 from 3-8pm.
Fly for Freedom tells the story of Antoinette and her family, who join millions of Black Americans working in the defense industry during WWII. The program showcases the vital roles played by marginalized communities during the war effort despite the societal challenges they faced in America. The show was developed in partnership with the Museum of Flight and The Boeing Company.
